Charlton goalkeeper Dillon Phillips has had one of those moments where he’ll wish the ground opened up and swallowed him whole after his awful mistake in the League One play-off final.
The Addicks’ opponents, Sunderland, took the lead on five minutes at Wembley in the most shocking of circumstances as Phillips completely misjudged Naby Sarr’s backpass.
Sarr’s ball had a bit of pace on it but Phillips was flat-footed and the ball inexplicably went into the back of the net and below you can see a video of how the shocking incident unfolded.
However, despite their initial shell-shock, Charlton got themselves on level terms ten minutes before the break thanks to Ben Purrington’s strike.
And they won promotion to the Championship in sensational style when captain Patrick Bauer scored seconds before the end of extra-time, securing a 2-1 win.
