FARMINGDALE, NY — Chocolate Duck of Farmingdale was named the Best Chocolatier on Long Island in the 2024 Bethpage Best of LI Awards.
The confections shop is at 310 Main St., Farmingdale. It offers cake decorating tools and chocolate molds, as well as specialty cakes and chocolates. The Chocolate Duck is run by father-and-daughter team Harry Cohen and Christina Bisbee.
The shop has won three years in a row and six times overall since the award was introduced in 2011. Bisbee said it feels “amazing” to have won again.
“It truly is an honor that so many people voted for us,” she told Patch. “We take great pride in the fact that we’ve been here for 37 years and we owe it all to our wonderful customers.”
Bisbee said the shop owes its consistency to treating customers like family when they come to learn how to make something.
“We try to treat their successes when they accomplish a successful confection as one of our successes,” she said. “We put love, as cliché as that sounds, into everything we make. We pay attention to the fact that our name is on the product that goes out outdoors, and we tried to reflect that and everything we do.”
Bisbee’s message is to keep supporting local businesses, especially through “really tough economic times.”
“We truly love our customers very much.”
She wanted to thank all the “wonderful customers” of Chocolate Duck who have supported the shop for so many years, especially through the recent turbulent economic times.
“We love the Daler community and we love how we have all grown together and become stronger and stronger through the ups in downs and tragedies that we’ve all felt this past year in the Farmingdale community,” Bisbee said. “We truly are Daler Strong.”
Easter is coming up, and Chocolate Duck is selling lots of chocolate and sweet treats for the holiday, Bisbee said.
