Daniel Bryan is still WWE Champion coming out of tonight’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view, but there can be no denying that he owes every bit of his controversial victory to the surprise return of Erick Rowan.

It would appear that the former Wyatt Family member has completely ditched his Bludgeon Brothers gimmick, but more importantly it looks like he may have forged some kind of new alliance with the reigning champion. Rowan rushed the ring during Bryan’s title match against the phenomenal AJ Styles, taking out the challenger with a monstrous chokeslam — a maneuver which was directly responsible for the champion retaining.

The 37-year-old Superstar hasn’t been seen since August when he suffered a torn bicep injury during a bout on Smackdown Live, where he and Luke Harper dropped the tag team titles to The New Day.
