Former Liverpool man Dietmar Hamann has been charged with allegedly assaulting his girlfriend in Australia.
Hamann, 45, who also played for Newcastle United and Manchester City, was arrested for allegedly pushing the woman during a holiday in Sydney.
Police were called to an address in Randwick in Sydney’s east at 2:15am on Friday regarding a domestic incident.
The former midfielder, who represented Germany 59 times at international level, was arrested and subsequently charged with common assault.
Police said the woman was not injured, however, they took out an apprehended violence order (AVO) to protect her.

But Hamann is understood to have violated this order by calling the woman which led to him being arrested again.

He has since been granted bail after a short hearing at the Parramatta Bail Court but had to hand over his passport. He is due back in court on Thursday.
Hamann played at senior level for 19 years, spending seven of them at Liverpool and was part of the Reds team that won the 2005 Champions League with a stunning comeback victory over AC Milan.
The German was on holiday in Australia and had visited the Western Sydney Wanderers before the incident.
