This was first reported by today’s Asbury Park Press, but Patch confirmed it after reading applications submitted to the Middletown Planning Board, which are publicly accessible here.
A Dollar General seeks to open at 62 and 74 Leonardville Road. That property is owned by Hampshire Belford LLC.
There is currently a one-story drive-through Wells Fargo bank building on that lot (the bank is currently vacant and not in use), but Hampshire Belford says they plan to keep the bank building and build the Dollar General next door.
The developer seeks to build a 10,640-square-foot Dollar General store, and then “reconfigure site circulation between both lots for vehicles and pedestrians, provide parking areas, landscaping, lighting and the necessary improvements to the drainage and storm water management,” according to this application submitted to the Middletown Planning Board.
They will also build a parking lot for 71 cars.
Here is the application submitted before the Middletown Planning Board: https://www.middletownnj.org/A… The next nearest Dollar General stores are in Keansburg and Eatontown. This would be Middletown’s first.
The Board will hear it at their Wednesday night meeting, March 6, 6:30 p.m. at the Middletown Township building.
