The Showoff is often cast as the foil for up and comers to wrestle in order to get credibility for title runs down the road.
Dolph Ziggler is once again in that role as his match Sunday at Backlash will be the coming out party for rising NXT sensation Shinsuke Nakamura, who will make his in-ring main roster debut at the pay-per-view event in Rosemont, Illinois.
Ziggler took to Twitter on Saturday to hype the match which has already gained a lot of attention with some fans cool to idea of Jinder Mahal being a main eventer as the heel to Randy Orton’s WWE Championship defense.
In the promo video, Ziggler tackles the perception that he is a “gatekeeper” for NXT stars looking to make their way, and that while the WWE Universe tends to be distracted by “shiny, new toys” that he came by his following organically.
