EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ – Council recently adopted an ordinance approving $3.6 million for sewer utility improvements.
A total of $3 million will spent on UV cure lining on the entire sanitary sewer system along Route 18 to ensure structural stability after construction is over; $475,000 will go towards replacing old vehicles and equipment including all work and materials and $200,000 will be spent on reconstruction of force main on New Brunswick Avenue which is exhibiting corrosion and signs of failure.
According to Councilman James Wendell, the township will not borrow funds, but the “money is coming out of the capital fund that the sewer utility has.”
One resident asked Council if the new apartments coming up in the Township would be paying individually for sewer charges once the improvements are in place.
Business administrator joe Criscuolo said that new user that goes into the township’s sewer or water system pays a connection fee

“Every dwelling will pay a fee to connect to our system,” Criscuolo said. “And that’s pretty much standard throughout New Jersey.”
