Fashion Scout, the international platform for emerging designers, has
named University of Westminster graduate David Ferreira as the
autumn/winter 2016 Merit Award winner.
Brazilian-born, London-based designer Ferreira will receive a prize fund
worth 25,000 pounds over three seasons that has been designed to support
and develop new designer businesses on a global level.
This will also include a fully sponsored catwalk show for his
autumn/winter 2016 to take place at Fashion Scout during London Fashion
Week later this month. In addition, the designer will have exhibition space
in London, as well as Paris to introduce his collection to global buyers.
Fashion Scout’s founder and creative director, Martyn Roberts, said:
“David’s Westminster graduate collection was critically acclaimed by press
and media and he has such a strong vision.
“Fashion Scout is renown around the world for showcasing and nurturing
the freshest international talent and David definitely fits in this.”
Ferreira was selected from more than 200 emerging designers from across
the world who applied for Fashion Scout, and he follows in the footsteps of
past winners including David Koma, Eudon Choi, Phoebe English, James Kelly
and Xiao Li.
The Merit Award showcase will take place on Friday, February 19 at
Fashion Scout’s London Fashion Week venue at the Freemasons’ Hall in Covent
Garden.
Other designers on the Fashion Scout schedule includes established names
such as Gareth Pugh, Felder Felder and Pam Hogg, as well as emerging names
such as Judy Wu, Rohmir and Niro Wang.
