Scorpio Sky and Frankie Kazarian defeated Pentagon Jr. and Rey Fenix in something of an upset victory on Wednesday night’s episode of AEW Dynamite, winning the ongoing tag team tournament and become the first ever pair of AEW World Tag Team Championships.
SoCal Uncensored were the underdogs throughout the tournament, having been attacked by the Lucha Bros. on multiple occasions. Two weeks ago, Pentagon Jr. drilled Christopher Daniels’ head into the entrance ramp and sent him to the hospital, ultimately making the tournament finals a whole lot more personal.
While not explicitly stated, it’s possible that all three members plan to defend the titles using the Freebird Rule, which has been re-popularized by WWE’s The New Day in recent years.

If that were the case, that would mean Kazarian and Daniels, who have also worked under the names Bad Influence and The Addiction, have won world tag championships in every major promotion they have worked in for the last 7 years together, including Impact Wrestling, Ring of Honor and now All Elite Wrestling.
SCU defeated the Best Friends in the first round, followed by a semifinal round win over the Dark Order to advance to the finals. The Lucha Brothers defeated fan-favorites Jurassic Express to advance to the semis, followed by Private Party, who had upset the Young Bucks in the opening match of the tournament.
