Liverpool have made a perfect start to the 2019/20 Premier League season and made it seven wins out of seven with their 1-0 victory over Sheffield United.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have now won 16 consecutive top-flight games, extending their run thanks to a howler from Blades goalkeeper Dean Henderson at Bramall Lane.
The Reds came agonisingly close to winning a first top-flight trophy in 29 years last season when they finished a point behind champions Manchester City.
Now, they lead Pep Guardiola’s men by eight points ahead of City’s trip to Everton and Liverpool’s stunning start has them on course to break another record.
Below, talkSPORT.com looks at the top five best starts made to a Premier League season by clubs and where they ended up finishing.
Newcastle started off brilliantly under Kevin Keegan, beating Leicester, Coventry, Southampton, West Ham, Chelsea and Arsenal.
In fact, the Magpies’ first loss of the season came at Manchester United in late October – and the wheels started to fall off after that result.
Keegan’s side won just three times until February.
They went on to finish in a disappointing sixth place, despite their stunning start.
Carlo Ancelotti could not have wished for a better start to his managerial reign at Chelsea, sitting top of the table after six games.
The club’s 100 per cent record came to an end after a shock defeat to Wigan, who had a man advantage for most of the second-half following a Petr Cech red card.
But the result did not deter Chelsea’s title charge as they lost just five more games to win a third Premier League title.

City ended the season trophyless and fought off Liverpool for third place, while finishing 16 points behind winners Chelsea.
After a tough debut season at the Etihad, Guardiola proved his early doubters wrong by winning back-to-back Premier League titles.
Liverpool recruited superbly in the 2018 summer transfer window, by bringing in Alisson and Fabinho – two players who carried out crucial roles in the 2018/19 campaign.
And Klopp’s men started the season like a house on fire, scoring 14 goals and conceding just twice.
Despite Liverpool leading the pack at Christmas, Manchester City were able to overcome their rivals by winning all of their remaining 14 league games – a remarkable run which stretched back to February 3.
However, it wasn’t all bad for Liverpool as they won a sixth Champions League trophy with a 2-0 win over Tottenham in June.
It was always going to be difficult for Chelsea to better their 95-point tally from Jose Mourinho’s maiden season in charge, which won the club a first ever Premier League crown in 2004.
And it looked like they could do it after winning all NINE of their opening top-flight games the following season.
