The grand opening event will be from 7 a.m. until noon, with a ribbon-cutting set for 10 a.m.
Fosters Farmers Market Board of Directors Vice President Jim Colby told Patch there are eight different vendors signed up at present, in addition to a few other applications that they are waiting to be returned.
The grand opening event will feature refreshments, live music, produce basket giveaways from vendors and more.
“We’re a growing community and this will give better opportunities for our local farmers to sell their produce direct to the public instead of the public having to go all the way into toewn for the farmers markets there,” Colby said, before thanking the Tuscaloosa County Commission and Tuscaloosa County Park & Recreation Authority (PARA) for their assistance.
Patch reported in March when the Commission committed in-kind and financial contributions for the Fosters Farmers Market, which carried an estimated price tag of $62,000.
The County Engineer’s office used the Northport Farmers Market as a model when designing the new farmers market.
