GAASTRA is steadily expanding its global empire. After quietly
entering the Scandinavian market several years ago, the nautical lifestyle brand GAASTRA
is now ready to make significant steps with their growth in Scandinavia. On Thursday the
12 th of November, GAASTRA opened a new flagship store in Stockholm in the heart of
Scandinavia.
GAASTRA, which is on an international expansion mission,
continues to hit the shores of the Nordic region. Over the
years, GAASTRA has launched a successful pop-up store in
Copenhagen, a brand store in Malmö and has now opened a
new flagship store in Stockholm. Located in the new and
most prestigious shopping mall in Scandinavia – Mall of
Scandinavia – it’s a dream come true.
The seafaring history, nautical nature of this region and outdoor and sports-orientated character of
its inhabitants make the Scandinavian market a great fit. Patric Holmer & Henning Hexeberg of
GAASTRA Nordic, Gaastra’s Scandinavian distribution partner, are enthusiastic. Henning Hexeberg

continue growing at a manageable and natural growth rate”.

The choice for Stockholm is no coincidence. This nautical city spread across 14 islands is the cultural,
political and economic centre of Sweden and this region alone accounts for over a third of the
country’s GDP. The 87 square metre new flagship store is located on the first floor of the Mall of
Scandinavia department store next to brands like Gant, G-Star, Tommy Hilfiger and Lexington.
Decorated in the recognisable nautical GAASTRA look and feel, the sporty navy blue combined with
deep wooden shelves give the store that functional and innovative premium look. “GAASTRA is not
only a nautical fashionable lifestyle brand, but a brand with a passion for life,” says Patric Holmer.
GAASTRA continues its path not only in retail, but also in wholesale. With around 50
wholesale points in Denmark, Norway and Sweden, this number is growing by the season. “We want to drive both our Scandinavian wholesale and retail business hard the next 3-5
years and make the business 4-5 times larger than it is today,” adds Patric.
GAASTRA is an international nautical lifestyle brand featuring performance and casual
collections for men, women and children. Founded in 1897, the brand started as an
innovative sailmaker in Sneek and has grown to become a lifestyle brand with international
