Granit Xhaka has deleted a picture of himself in an Arsenal kit from his Instagram as his ongoing row with Gunners fans continues.
The Swiss midfielder was sarcastically cheered by the Emirates crowd when he was substituted on the hour-mark in the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace at the weekend, and then booed when he slowly walked off the pitch.
He responded by cupping his ear to the crowd, telling supporters to ‘f**k off’, angrily stripping off his shirt and storming straight down the tunnel.
He has so far failed to apologise to Gunners fans for the incident, and now eagle-eyed social media followers have noticed he has made a subtle change to his Instragram profile.
His main display picture has been changed from him playing for Arsenal to a snap of him in action for Switzerland.
Unai Emery confirmed Xhaka would play no part in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup trip to Anfield, and he also remained evasive when questioned whether he would remain captain.
“I do not want to speak about that,” he said at his pre-match press conference. “First is to recover him. We cannot anticipate the circumstances.
“I prefer to keep moving.
“It’s not easy for him and for the team. He is now devastated, sad. We spoke yesterday and Sunday night and this morning.

“He trained normally with the group but he is devastated. He is sad about that situation.”
