Granit Xhaka has been left out of the Arsenal squad for the second-consecutive game following his outburst against Crystal Palace.
The Gunners captain last night issued an explanation to fans after he responded to criticism by telling them to ‘f*** off’ when substituted in the 2-2 draw with the Eagles last Sunday.
He argued that the vile abuse suffered by him and his family, as well as boos from the stands, caused him to reach ‘boiling point’.
And after missing the Carabao Cup defeat to Liverpool, Xhaka has been left out for the Premier League clash with Wolves by Arsenal manager Unai Emery.
“He is training. He didn’t play in Liverpool for me he is continuing, above all [we are] focusing on tomorrow,” Emery said.
“The human, like everyone, feels. Xhaka’s issues last week is one issue that needs time. He needs time to recover the normality in him.
“He said sorry, he gave the apology to the supporters and to everybody. Now is the focus on the match.”
Gunners boss Emery has refused to confirm whether Xhaka will remain as club captain after the confrontation with fans.
He added: “We were waiting on Monday and Tuesday (to sort out the captaincy).
“Now we need to be focussed 100 per cent only on the match. We are going to do the training today but at the moment it is not in my mind.
“I want to speak about the players who are going to play.”
Gary Neville joined talkSPORT recently to discuss the incident, insisting that while he has no problem with his outburst, it’s Xhaka’s performances which are the real issue.

Speaking to talkSPORT’s Laura Woods, Neville said: “I have a real problem every time I watch Xhaka play.
“He is the least-experienced experienced player I’ve ever seen, he doesn’t seem to learn. I’ve never known a player commit the same mistakes game after the game, he’s riddled with ill-discipline.
“He doesn’t lead in any way shape or form on the pitch, other than the fact he does seem to give his all and does, to be fair, fight for the team.
“I don’t have a problem with an incident like on Sunday. That can happen in football with passion, emotion, intention and ill-discipline.”
