ELMHURST, IL – An Elmhurst alderman updated residents earlier this month on gravel lots that he said aren’t allowed.
In a Facebook post, Alderman Michael Bram said residents have asked him about three gravel lots – 126 W. Lake St., York Street and Crestview Avenue, and York and Grantley Avenue.
He said they are not supposed to remain gravel lots, adding he has been working on the issue since late August.

He said he was told by the city early on that code enforcement had notified two of the property owners they must grade and seed their land. (It wasn’t clear which two.) The city allowed the owners to do this in September, with the possibility of citations in October if the lots remained in violation.
In his Facebook post, Bram showed the messages he had received through Elmhurst Connect, the part of the city website where residents can alert officials to code issues, among other things.
Earlier this month, the city indicated it may cite the property owner at 126 W. Lake St. The site was supposed to be graded and seeded after the building was demolished, the city said.
In a text message to Patch on Wednesday, Bram said he knew notices were sent, but didn’t know whether citations were issued.
