Harry Maguire did not train with Leicester on Monday – but teammate James Maddison hilariously revealed it was not down to Manchester United’s interest.
The defender was absent due to illness as the Foxes stand firm on their £90million valuation of the England ace.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made Maguire his No. 1 transfer target, but the Red Devils are yet to make an offer which meets Leicester’s demands.
The 26-year-old has four years remaining on his contract and the Foxes are under no pressure to sell.
Nonetheless, Maguire’s absence from Leicester training at the start of the week raised eyebrows.
But talkSPORT have been told Maguire is suffering from an illness and was told to stay away from the training ground, which teammate Maddison later confirmed with an hilarious Twitter post.
Maguire reportedly wants Leicester to drop his price tag after the club rejected a £70million bid from United.
According to The Sun, the Foxes promised to let Maguire go for a reasonable offer if he stayed for an extra season following his performances at the 2018 World Cup.
Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers recently told talkSPORT: “Harry is a top class player and of course this has attracted interest, with two bids coming in.
“But they are nowhere near to meeting the valuation of the club. Harry is relaxed about it, we are, he’s been absolutely brilliant.
“I really have to add, because I have been in this situation a number of times where it can be very, very difficult for players.
“And in these circumstances it can be very easy for him not to play, but he wanted to be with the squad.”
