Following in the footsteps of fellow fashion houses and , French luxury house Hermès tanning
sector, known as Hermès Cuirs Précieux, has acquired one its long standing
partners “Tanneries du Puy.”
The tannery, which is located in Chadrac, is globally recognised for its
expertise in working with calf leather and notably a type of leather known
as the “box,” which is one of iconic materials. According to a press
release sent out by Hermès the acquisition will save more than one hundred
jobs in the French Auvergne-Rhône Alps region. The acquisition is also said
to be part of the Hermès group strategy to preserve its workers unique
know-how, and to secure its supply chain.

from farms where the animals where subject to extreme .
