London – Fans of Swedish fast fashion retailer H&M annual designer
collaboration will be pleased to hear the next designer brand tapped for
the initiative is none other than Kenzo.
“Kenzo, the vibrant and playful Parisian house that captures the energy of
global culture to create its unique, youthful spirit,” said the company in
a statement on the brand. Founded in 1970, in Paris, France by Kenzo
Takada, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon were appointed Artistic Directors in
2011. Since their appointment, the design duo have been credited with
breathing new life into the brand, taking the industry by storm with a
certain tiger face sweatshirt which went on to become something of a
fashion statement.
“He was the first Asian designer to come into Paris and design for women,”
said Lim on the founder on hm.com. “Kenzo really created a new way for
women to dress.” His designs were full of colour, patterns and unique
silhouettes, a certain spirit both Lim and Leon have translated into their
own collections for the brand.
“We wanted to really tell the story of the brand and us,” said Leon on the
collaboration. “Together with H&M, we will invite all the customers and
fans to the real Kenzo world.
The duo aims to bring the brand’s spirit to life with H&M in a collaborative
collection for both men and women. Similar to other designer
collaborations, the range will feature clothing as well as accessories,
which will offer the design duo’s own aesthetics and preference for bold
colours and vivid prints. “With this collaboration with H&M we want to
think big, push the boundaries and bring the new energy of Kenzo to
everyone around the world,” added Lim and Leon.
“We can’t wait to share with everyone the world of Kenzo x H&M, with all of
its creativity, fun and love of fashion,” said Ann-Sofie Johansson,
Creative Advisor at H&M. Kenzo x H&M is set to launch in over 250 selected
H&M stores across the globe, as well as online on November 3, 2016. Prices
for the collection have yet to be revealed.
