Brexit is a little bit like a relegation battle, if you think about it.
Following a run of poor results at home, two Prime Ministers have already lost their jobs, and the new man in charge is struggling to win over the House of Commons.
Boris Johnson’s tenure has started with three consecutive defeats, making him the first UK leader to suffer such a disastrous opening run.
The Prime Minister has lost the backing of his own players, with Tory rebels helping the opposition to block a no-deal Brexit in recent days.
It was a disastrous summer transfer window for Boris, who lost his majority when former Tory MP Phillip Lee signed for arch rivals Lib Dems, while his own brother also quit the club.
It’s all very 2017/18 Stoke City. Supporters are becoming increasingly disgruntled, fan protests loom large, and Ian Holloway is sick of it.
“Three years ago, whether we were right or wrong, we asked to get out,” the former QPR manager told talkSPORT.
“Why has it taken this long? Whatever you voted, our country is in a mess right now, so sort it out.
He added: “All I’m seeing is selfish, selfish, selfish. For me, we’re in a war. We’re in a war with Europe. It needs to be almost a war situation where we have a coalition government to sort it out.”
And Holloway knows just the men who can lead Britain’s newly founded war cabinet and save the country from relegation.
“I’d sack the lot of them. It’s not about you, it’s about us,” Holloway said.
“I’d give it to Simon Jordan and Tony Pulis, we’d all sort it out. My best mate, Phil Bater, I’d get him in as well.”
