Despite speculation as to where he might end up following the recent expiration of his Impact Wrestling contract, Eli Drake is remaining with the company as Impact issued the Tweet below moments ago announcing the company has re-signed the former Champion.
Eli Drake signed with Impact Wrestling back in February of 2015, after making his Impact debut in a Gut Check challenge.
Drake appeared sporadically in WWE from 2006-2008, and again from 2013-2014. Drake was released from his WWE developmental deal back on August 1st, 2014, and has said in interviews his release came because he did not get along with then-Performance Center head coach Bill DeMott.
Drake also appeared as a cast member on the TNT reality series The Hero, hosted by The Rock. Drake is a former Impact World Champion and a former Impact World Tag Team Champion. Most recently Drake won the tag team titles with Scott Steiner then lost the belts quickly thereafter.
With Drake re-signing with Impact, his role at Slammiversary should be announced in the coming weeks, as the company had yet to book him for the show until his contract status was figured out.
