Wayne Rooney has urged Borussia Dortmund starlet Jadon Sancho to spurn the advances of interested clubs, including Manchester United.
The Old Trafford legend wants Sancho to continue his development in the Bundesliga after an impressive 2018/19 campaign – where he scored 12 goals and contributed 14 assists.
“Dortmund is a great club with great fans, they trust their young players and you can see that in Sancho and the progress he has made in the last 12 months,” Rooney told German newspaper Bild.
“Now Jadon has to ask himself whether he would get the playing time he gets in Dortmund when he moves to England, or would he just sit on the bench?
“Playing time is so important for a young player like Jadon, so if he gets the most playing time in Dortmund, he should stay there.”

Wayne Rooney scores amazing goal from beyond halfway line for DC United
Sancho, 19, joined Dortmund from Premier League champions Man City for £8million in 2017 and the England youngster currently has three years left on his current deal at the Signal Iduna Park.
However, his form for the club has seen him linked with a return to the Premier League with rivals Man United.
The Red Devils have already splashed the cash this summer to sign 21-year-old Aaron Wan-Bissaka for £50m from Crystal Palace, as well as Dan James, also 21, from Swansea in a £15m deal.
Speaking in April though, Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc said the club have received no offers yet.
“Jadon will play for Borussia Dortmund next season and we are definitely planning with him,” he said.
“I am far from putting a price tag on Jadon, but I maintain that his transfer would be hard to beat even for the biggest clubs in the world at the moment.”
