Change seems to be certainly a foot at Fashion Week as Chinese online giant
JD.com is set to host a catwalk show during New York Fashion Week this
month.
The runway show, which follows on the from the retailer’s JD Fashion Show
during Milan Fashion Week last autumn, is set to showcase collections from
five China-based, up and coming designers whilst highlighting JD.com’s
growing appeal within its local apparel market. The participating designers
include Alicia Lee, Gioia Pan, Ruiping Guo, Tim Cahill and Chi Zhang.
“We are thrilled to help raise the profile of some of the most innovative
names in Chinese design with participants of New York’s renowned Fashion
Week,” commented Lijun Xin, President of JD.com’s Apparel and Home
Furnishing Business Unit. The show, set to take place February 17, at Pier
59 in New York City, also aims to share the designers work to a wider
audience.
In order to ensure the show runs as smoothly as possible, JD.com has teamed
up with designer Maurizio Pecoraro, creative director of Europe Design
Center and Mario Boselli, honrary president of Europe Design Center, who
will help the designers develo the upcoming show which focuses on the theme
of ‘New Romantic’.
