Tragedy struck earlier this week when it was reported that former WWE Superstar Brian Christopher Lawler had passed away at the age of 46. The ex-wrestler reportedly hanged himself while during his most recent jail visit before later dying in the hospital. Christopher had been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol just days before he passed away and after he had been arrested several other times in recent history. He made numerous appearances WWE, TNA, as well as in several other promotions and left his own legacy everywhere that he went. Days after his suicide, two of the most important figures throughout his career in pro wrestling have just now commented on his death.
Earlier today, Christopher’s father and WWE Hall of Famer, Jerry “The King” Lawler broke his silence and made his first public comments on the matter. While speaking with Fox 13 in Memphis, Tennessee, Lawler said that he rushed over to the hospital to be with his son before he died. Lawler also said that he held his hand as his heart stopped beating. Lawler thanked all of the fans and close friends who have been reaching out and sending their wishes after his son’s tragic passing, and he commented on the ongoing Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s current case on Christopher’s death by stating that there is “more to this than meets the eye.” Visitation and funeral services will also be taking place this Friday.
Of course, every wrestling fan of WWE’s “Attitude Era” will always remember Brian Christopher best for his days competing as Grandmaster Sexay in the Too Cool stable. Christopher, Scotty 2 Hotty, and Rikishi formed a highly-entertaining team that even saw a few reunions take place over the years. Scotty commented on his former tag team partner’s death by posting an image of the last time that Too Cool ever shared a ring together with a message stating that although the two of them were not close behind the scenes, they always “made magic together” once they hit the ring. Scotty said that he will miss Christopher and that they truly were Too Cool. Rikishi has also commented on Christopher’s death over the past few days.
This is from the last time that the three of us were in the ring together. Brian and I were different people outside of the ring. We never traveled together, never roomed together, and never really hung out together. But, EVERY single time that we went through that curtain, we made magic together. Magic that will never be replaced. We were TOO COOL. I will miss ya BC
