New York accessories company Kate Spade is to launch a wearable tech
collection that will be available from November this year.
The collection will feature a smartwatch, a bangle tracker and silicone
tracker, with prices set to range from 125 to 250 dollars at retail.
The collection will initially be sold on the company’s website and
specialty stores, and then roll out via its wholesale channel and specialty
stores.
The company stated its new smartwatch and two trackers have the
functionality to track one’s activities and sleep when used alongside
its app, and also features a count-down function, music and volume control,
self-photography, time-zone updates and notification technology. The
battery-operated trackers never require charging and are both iPhone and
Android-compatible.
Kate Spade is part of the Fossil Group of brands, signing a licensing
agreement in 2015 that allows Fossil to design, develop and distribute its
collections until 2025.
This is Kate Spade’s second foray into wearable technology. Last year the
company teamed up with Everpurse, a company that marries design and
function, to offer handbags and accessories that charges iPhones.
