The TLC card was drastically changed yesterday with Roman Reigns being replaced on the show with Kurt Angle, and with AJ Styles taking the place of Bray Wyatt on the show. WWE spoke with ESPN earlier in the day and confirmed that there is a serious illness that is affecting the WWE locker room. The company confirmed that three roster members are dealing with the infection, and that they are testing the rest of the locker room for signs of the illness. While it wasn’t noted in the report, the belief is that Bo Dallas was the first to get the infection before his brother Bray Wyatt was later hit with it. The mother of Wyatt’s girlfriend, JoJo, confirmed that she is not sick, which would leave Roman Reigns as the third person to be struck with the illness.
PWInsider states that WWE will not be announcing exact details of the medical condition due to HIPAA laws, but some news on what the infection could be has surfaced online. Though it was thought to be a case of viral meningitis affecting the WWE locker room, Wrestling Inc. is now claiming that Wyatt, Dallas, and Reigns are dealing with the mumps. The report describes the condition as “an airborne virus that can be spread by saliva or utensils – even plates or cups – with an infected person. It can also be spread by coughing or sneezing. Symptoms usually take 16-18 days to appear. It then usually takes several days to a week to disappear.” WWE was apparently testing superstars for viral meningitis, but the company may have discovered that the mumps is now the condition affecting the Raw talent.
On a side note, WWE announced yesterday that Smackdown’s Kevin Owens had to leave right after a scheduled live event in Buenos Aires due to “personal reasons,” and he has been pulled from the remaining shows in South America scheduled for this weekend. It is unclear if Kevin Owens walked out of the show, much like Neville and Nia Jax were both rumored to have done recently, or if this in any way circles back to the mumps/viral meningitis outbreak in WWE right now. As for the latter, Pro Wrestling Sheet’s Ryan Satin noted that the infection seems to be limited to only the Raw roster, and obviously, Owens is a Smackdown talent. More details should be provided soon.
From everything I’ve heard, yes. Raw only.
I also believe Bray/Roman often ride together. https://t.co/cVYYlLWQKb
