Visitors of the next kleine fabriek on 6th and 7th of July will be pleased: on the summer edition of the children’s trade fair, like previous editions, many established brands but also smaller national and international starting labels will have a spot.
New exhibitors include “big brands” such as Replay, Scotch & Soda, Falke en Fiorucci, but also labels that just started – Milibe, Broer & Zus and Yporqué – can be found. “We are able to choose from many cool brands, coming from all over the world, but we also have a space shortage. By smart allocation we luckily can still offer new brands an opportunity,” says event producer Merel Bunnik. In January, kleine fabriek hosted more than 420 brands. The definite number of participants in July is not determined yet, but will exceed this number.
The kleine fabriek has grown enormously since its first edition in 2005. This opens up the opportunity to also realize other ambitions. Marc van Schie from the organization: “We not only want to organize a beautiful fair, but we also hope to be a platform that enables children’s design to step into the spotlight. There are many talented, serious professionals working in the children’s market, but it does not yet have the same image or reputation as adult fashion and design. We would like to change that.”
By cooperating with designers and artists from different disciplines the organisation hopes to show the cross-pollination that exists and to shake of the “childish” connotation. This will be visible in for example the “Zwarte Markt” (in cooperation with stijlinstituut Amsterdam) and the Kid’s Wear photo shoot.
