Rafael Camacho has rejoined Sporting Lisbon after Liverpool accepted an initial £5million offer for the midfielder.
Camacho refused to sign a new contract extension at Anfield due to his lack of first-team football.
The 19-year-old made just two senior appearances under Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, who was unable to guarantee him regular playing time.
It has now been confirmed he will return to the Portuguese club, where he began his career, despite interest from the likes of AC Milan, Wolves and Schalke.
Despite being a winger, Camacho was deployed at right-back when Liverpool were beaten 2-1 by Wolves in the FA Cup in January.
Camacho later launched an extraordinary rant at Klopp and his coaching staff for playing him out of position.
After netting a hat-trick for the club’s under-23 side in a 6-0 win over Leicester in April, he spoke of his discontent on Instagram.
“I do not know whose idea it is, but I will prove that they are mistaken about my football,” Camacho’s post read.
“I’m not a right defender, I’m an attacker who scores goals. This is my DNA.
“Happy to score three goals and help the team in today’s win vs Leicester.”
The deal with Sporting could see the fee rise to £7m with add-ons, with the Liverpool understood to have inserted a 20 per cent sell-on clause.
