Liverpool have updated their ‘Champions Wall’ after adding a third trophy to their incredible haul this year.
As ‘the tens’ come to a close, supporters will remember it as the pinnacle of what has been quite a decade for the club.
The Reds have gone from absolute mediocrity under Roy Hodgson back to the very top of English football under Jurgen Klopp, whose side will end the year as six-time European champions and champions of the world.
Liverpool capped what has been a remarkable 2019 by winning the Club World Cup in Qatar on Saturday – the first time they have won the trophy after three previous attempts.
And they have taken little time to update their trophy wall, which now has a seventh column as the Club World Cup now sits proudly in their cabinet.
The only thing still missing from their wall is the Premier League title, but it appears the wait for that coveted cup could soon be over, too, after a year which could lay the foundations for a period of Reds dominance.
And few could argue with their place at the summit in European and world football.
Liverpool have played 56 games in 2019, claiming an incredible 43 wins, with seven draws and just six losses.
Since the start of last season the have accrued 146 points in the Premier League, losing just one of their 55 games.
Micky Quinn tells talkSPORT: This could be Liverpool’s best team ever – tell me where there’s a weakness.”
In fact, Liverpool have not been beaten in the Premier League since January 3 – their first game of the year – when they lost 2-1 at Manchester City.
They have also written history as the first English side to win the international treble of the European Cup/Champions League, European Super Cup and Intercontinental Club Cup/FIFA Club World Cup in a single year.
After last year’s agonising near-miss, losing out on the Premier League title by just one point, their success in Europe was the perfect antidote.
And so it’s no wonder they have continued celebrations into the Christmas week by giving their training ground a fresh new look.
And they could be set for more renovations in May if they finally get their hands on English title number 19.
