According to e-commerce fashion platform Lyst there are 50 fashion
pieces that were the “hottest” products of 2015, which they have charted
based on its global search and sales data, as well as social media
mentions, page views, wishlysting (wish lists created on Lyst) and active
browsing behaviour.
The 50 garments and accessories were then arranged by month and into a
number of camps, including “Literally Everywhere,” “Kind of a Big Deal,”
“So Fresh,” “So Last Year,” “Micro Trend,” and “Peak Popularity.”
January, it was all about coveted the Bella Freud 1970 jumper, a
favourite of Kate Moss and Alexa Chung, while February, saw Stuart
Weitzman’s Highland boots “literally everywhere,” and in March it was all
about Mansur Gavriel Bucket Bag.
April saw the Aquazzura Christy Lace-Up Flat rise to the top, and in
May, Self Portrait increased its popularity with its Azarlea dress, and in
June, it seems everyone wanted a Kiini Crochet Bikini.
Classic Adidas Stan Smith trainers topped the chart in July, while
August belongs to the Chloè Faye Bag, a favourite of the Instagram fashion
pack, and in September everyone was wearing Tibi’s off-the-shoulder
tunic.
October was all about Rachel Comey’s ‘Legion’ jeans, while November was
topped by high street giant Topshop’s ‘Jive’ pointy block heels, and
rounding off 2015 was Loewe’s Puzzle bag, which has been spotted on the arm
of actress Kate Bosworth.
Other fashion items to make ‘The Fashion Fifty’ were Fendi Bug charms,
Shrimps’ faux fur coat, Nike leggings, Gucci’s pleated metallic skirt, the
Balmain x H&M blazer, Rebecca Minkoff sports bra, Acne’s shearling jacket,
and Miu Miu’s ‘Noir’ sunglasses.
