Following two days of taping events at Full Sail University we can now confirm that Japanese sensation Io Shirai will face Australian standout Toni Storm in the finals of the Mae Young Classic. The match will go down live on Sunday, October 28th at the all-women’s pay-per-vie event WWE Evolution.

This is not an unexpected outcome, as both ladies were expected to do well in the tournament and most had predicted either one or both reaching the finals in their predictions brackets. Io defeated Xia Brookside in her first round match on Wednesday night, followed by big wins over Zeuxis, Deonna Purrazzo and Rhea Ripley on Thursday.

Toni Storm’s path to the finals was an interesting one. She started off with a big win over WWE UK star Jinny on Wednesday afternoon, but had a grueling path through two Japanese strong-style experts on Thursday in the form of Hiroyo Matsumoto and Meiko Satomura, as well as tournament stand-out Mia Yim representing Korea.
