Major Name Confirmed to Return at WWE Survivor Series *Spoiler*

It was announced earlier this week that AJ Styles vs Jinder Mahal for the WWE Title will take place on next week’s WWE Smackdown Live from Manchester, England.

The winner of that bout may or may not change current WWE Survivor Series main event plans, which call for Brock Lesnar to face Jinder Mahal in a Champion vs Champion match. Should AJ Styles defeat Mahal for the WWE Title on Smackdown next week, he will head to Survivor Series to face The Beast.

Regardless of Smackdown’s main event outcome, however, F4WOnline.com is reporting John Cena will be making his WWE return at Survivor Series to special guest referee the Champion vs Champion main event.

As we previously reported, Vince McMahon had been considering The Rock and Steve Austin for the role of special guest referee at WWE Survivor Series, but it looks like McMahon has settled on John Cena, who will be returning to the company for the first time since No Mercy where he lost to Roman Reigns.

The F4WOnline.com report adds the idea behind Cena being the special guest referee is that he is a “free agent” in WWE, so he represents neither Raw nor Smackdown.
