Manchester City’s ban from European competitions for the next TWO seasons will spell the end for Pep Guardiola at the club, according to talkSPORT’s Jamie O’Hara.
The Premier League champions were found to have committed serious breaches of the UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations and will not be allowed to take part in the Champions League or Europa League in the 2020/21 or 2021/22 seasons.
They have also been hit with a 30 million euros (£24.9m) fine.
Man City insist they are “disappointed but not surprised” by UEFA’s announcement and plan to launch an appeal against the punishment at the Court of Arbitration for Sport “at the earliest opportunity.”
Guardiola’s side are allowed to continue playing in this season’s Champions League where they face Real Madrid in the last-16.
The news has sent shockwaves across the world of sport and Drivetime host Adrian Durham was in almost sheer disbelief when the story broke.
On Friday’s Drivetime, he said: “If Manchester City have broken rules to the point where they have to be banned for two seasons then fine.
“UEFA will have to apply that and they’ll have to be consistent when they apply that.
“But you’ve got some top players at Manchester City, they’re not all going to be able to get out of the football club.
“You’ve got a manager at Manchester City [Guardiola] who’s synonymous with the Champions League. He is a top level manager.
“Is he instantly just going to leave? Where does that leave Manchester City?
“In essence, what UEFA are doing, they are saying ‘there’s a lot of top players we don’t want in the Champions League’. I think it’s an extraordinary decision from them.”
O’Hara then said he believes this decision, provided Man City’s appeal isn’t successful, will lead to Guardiola leaving the club.

O’Hara said: “This is not something they [UEFA] would have taken lightly but they’re not going to be looking at the players and manager, they’re going to be looking at the football club.
“If it is right then they’ve gone against the rules and they have to be punished.
“If Manchester City are now definitely out for the next two seasons, you can say goodbye to Pep Guardiola. He will be off.”
