Good news for fashion lovers who also have a weak spot for Star Wars.
Clothing label Matchless London has designed a capsule collection which
offers items based on the popular sci-fi film series. The Star Wars
collection contains sixteen items for men, women and children.
“I am a Star Wars fan,” said Michele Malenotti, Matchless´ CEO, in an
interview with Women´s Wear Daily (WWD). “Matchless was closed for many
years, and now we are reviving it. We are reestablishing the company and
the clothing part is a very important part of the deal.” The brand was
established in 1878 but ended production in 1966, when Matchless´ parent
company AMC became part of another company. Malenotti bought the rights
for the company, which originally focused on manufacturing motorcycle gear,
in 2012 with his brother Manuele.
Customers who want to buy a garment from the collection will soon be
able to do so through the webshop of Matchless, or at a number of
department stores including Selfridges. The exact date has yet to be
announced. Prices range from 400 pounds for a nylon jacket to 1.500 pounds
for a jacket made of napa leather.
