MCM has announced they will be collaborating with British designer
Christopher Raeburn on a collection that will debut at London Collection:
Men’s in June.
Rayburn has collaborated with the label to create a unisex spring 2017
collection that combines MCM’s heritage with his utilitarian aesthetic. The
designer has taken signature MCM motif’s like the Visetos canvas and
deconstructed and reworked them into new patterns.
“MCM is a global brand with exceptional future plans, and we collaborated
to develop a collection with a modern, considered and sustainable approach.
We’re living in a changing world and it’s a particularly interesting time
for the fashion industry so I’ve nothing but respect for MCM who are
seeking to innovate, not only in creativity, but in our thinking around,
and consumption of, contemporary fashion,” said Raeburn to WWD.
Looking at the brand’s travel heritage, Raeburn analyzed the state of
travel now and gave focus to function and formality.
The collection also falls into the eco-friendly fashion trend. Some pieces
are made using recycled post-consumer plastic bottles and Bluesign approved
fabrics.
The runway presentation will take place on June 11, and is expected to
include grand digital elements.
This is an exciting week for Raeburn, as he is also up for the British
Fashion Council/GQ Designer Men’s Wear Fund 2016 award which will be
announced later this week.
