Rodriguez was booked into the Will County Jail around 4 p.m. on Sunday. He’s being charged with aggravated domestic battery.
Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said the following events led to the 33-year-old man’s arrest:
At 11:39 a.m. on Sunday, officers responded to the 700 block of Wilcox Street for a report of a past tense disturbance. Officers learned that on Saturday evening, Rodriguez attacked his 69-year-old roommate. It is believed that Rodriguez became angry with the victim while both were on the porch of the home and Rodriguez punched the victim in the face.
Rodriguez obtained a metal flashlight from inside the home and came back out to the porch, and he began striking the victim in the hands, knee and forehead with the flashlight. Officers were unable to locate Rodriguez at that time.
Rodriguez was placed into custody without incident at 2:19 p.m. after Joliet police saw him walking in the 700 block of Wilcox Street.
