Head Coach Randy Baker at Minnesota West CTC in Worthington has announced the signing of three area wrestlers to a Letter of intent for 2020-2021.
Standout heavyweight Scot Edwards from nearby Adrian Area HS was the first to sign. A two-time state entrant and the Class A heavyweight state runner-up last year for Adrian, Edwards finished 28-2 after a 25-7 sophomore campaign. Edwards enters the 2019-20 season ranked #2 behind last year’s champ. He looks to get an Associate of Arts degree at Minnesota West CTC.
Also signing at Minnesota West CTC were the Abrahamson twins from Okoboji High School in Milford, Iowa. Blake and Hunter Abrahamson are standout lightweight wrestlers. Both are returning state qualifiers and both are currently ranked in Class 2A in Iowa. Blake, wrestling 126, was 35-4 last year for the Pioneers, and Hunter, wrestling 132, was 34-8. Blake and Hunter plan to study Agronomy at Minnesota West CTC.
“These guys are exactly what we are looking for! Area kids with talent and they fill need areas for us right away,” said Minnesota West CTC Coach Randy Baker. “Scot has the experience of competing on a big stage already being in the Minnesota state finals and that should help him this season as well. He is a big, physical young man that should help us be very competitive at that weight. The Abrahamsons are go-getters and they wrestle with a lot of energy, and really get after it. They also compete a great deal in the off-season which tells me they love the sport and the competition! I am really excited about adding these three to the Bluejay program!”
