Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens (R) will pay an ethics fee for violating law by using a donor list from a non-profit, The Associated Press reported Saturday.
Greitens, who took office in January, reportedly used a list of donors from The Mission Continues, a veterans non-profit he previously founded.
Roy Temple, who last year was the chairman of the state’s Democratic Party, reported the violation to the state Ethics Commission, claiming the campaign should have reported the donor list as an in-kind donation.

The commission fined Greiten’s campaign $1,000, but the fee will be waived if the campaign pays $100 and does not commit another violation for the next two years.
An advisor for Greiten’s campaign told the AP that use of the list did not constitute “a major ethics violation,” but said the campaign is paying the $100.
“This is a clerical error where a minor contribution wasn’t reported on a campaign finance report,” said the campaign adviser, Austin Chambers.
Stephen Webber, the current chair of the Missouri Democratic party, slammed Greitens in a statement on Friday.
“After running as an ‘outsider’ that would clean up the Capitol, Eric Greitens has already proven that he embodies everything that disgusts us about the culture of corruption in Jefferson City,” said Webber. “It’s only been a few months, but the Governor’s problems with ethics just don’t go away.”
The Mission Continues is a 501(c)(3), which according to federal law cannot interfere for a candidate in a political campaign.
