CREST HILL — After operating their Oasis Mexican Restaurant in one of the worst locations possible for two years, brothers Adrian and Christian Avila have left Crest Hill and moved all of their restaurant operations to the nearby community of Lockport.
The Avila brothers reached out to Joliet Patch to help spread the word that their Crest Hill restaurant location is closed. Everything is now at their second location, which they opened several months ago at 1250 East 9th Street in Lockport.
Oasis was hidden behind the Speedway gas station near the Caton Farm Road six corners intersection along Plainfield Road. You literally could not see the restaurant. You would have to know to pull into the small strip mall to know that Oasis was there.
A new restaurant called Shree Indian Cuisine is now occupying the space.
Why did the Avila brothers leave Crest Hill?
What prompted them to devote their undivided attention to the city of Lockport?
What’s the food and drink atmosphere like in Lockport?
In recent days, Adrian Avila responded to Joliet Patch’s list of questions with the following commentary:
“Due to popularity and location limitations, the Oasis Mexican Restaurant in Crest Hill has officially closed its doors,” Avila explained. “The two brothers who own the restaurant have decided to focus their efforts on their Lockport location, which has proven to be a bigger and more popular spot for customers.”:
The Avilas said the Lockport location offers them a larger space and a bar double the size of their Crest Hill location. They have also unveiled a new menu with a new chef. New items include Poblano pasta to Mexican ribeye to oysters.
“There is something for everyone to enjoy. They even offer a Tomahawk steak and breakfast options for those looking for a unique dining experience,” Adrian said. “And of course customers can still enjoy the famous specialty Quesabirria tacos, Bizza and Birria Ramen.”
What makes the Lockport restaurant location stand out?
“One of the standout features of the Lockport location is the DJ who plays tropical Tulum music every Friday and Saturday night. Customers can also take advantage of the $5 margarita nights on Tuesdays and Thursdays, making it a popular spot for those looking to relax and unwind,” Adrian Avila said. “Along with the bar, (we) also offer craft cocktails like Espresso martinis, sangrias, Palomas and many more, adding a touch of sophistication to the dining experience.”
Avila said that customers can enjoy their brunch cuisine on the weekends in Lockport.
He and his brother said they “are excited for the future and plan to continue expanding their restaurant empire. While the Crest Hill location may no longer be in operation, customers can still enjoy all of their favorite dishes and drinks just a short drive away in Lockport. Customers can also enjoy the late-night dining experience at the Lockport location as they are open late on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. This gives customers the opportunity to enjoy delicious food and drinks well into the night, making it a perfect spot for those looking for a fun and lively dining experience.”
