Ole Gunnar Solskjaer praised the ‘moment of magic’ Josh King produced for Bournemouth to score the winner against his former side.
King’s first half strike was enough for a 1-0 win against Manchester United at the Vitality Stadium in the Premier League clash on Saturday.
The Norway striker joined the Red Devils as a teenager but left for Blackburn aged 21 before moving to the south coast in 2015.
Solskjaer told talkSPORT: “They got the first goal. A moment of magic, I must say, through Josh. We just couldn’t find the quality that we needed today to break through a stubborn Bournemouth team.
“They defended really well but we couldn’t capitalise on our decent start. I felt we created openings and got down our right-hand side but couldn’t get the finishing touch.
“When you don’t score you aren’t going to win a game of football. Today, their keeper had some decent saves, we had some strikes off the target, hit the post but most of it outside the box we couldn’t carve them open and get the big chances we hoped for.
“I’ve followed Josh since he came to United and before then when he was 15 or 16. He has developed into a top player and is doing well for Bournemouth and Norway.
“I’m not happy he scored against us but it’s great to see him having a good career.”
Manchester United had won their last three games in a row but that run was ended by Bournemouth.
When asked how they would look to build on the momentum they had previously built up, he said: “Get a reaction. We’ve had a nice couple of weeks with some decent results and performances and you get one of these you need to bounce back and react.
“Thursday night is a chance for us to go through in Europe if we win that one so we will focus on that one.”
