Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists his Manchester United players will come out ‘stronger’ during their poor run of form.
The Red Devils have won just four of their opening 14 Premier League games this season, and were held at home by newly-promoted Aston Villa in a 2-2 draw on Sunday.
The result saw Solskjaer’s side miss the chance to close the gap on fourth-placed Chelsea, who lost to West Ham the day before, to six points.
And the Norwegian has urged his players not to worry about negative reaction in the media.
He told talkSPORT: “The standards at Man United are high. That’s what we have to keep working towards to improve as a team, improve as individuals.
“Expectations, you’ll always have that, and the ones [players] who focus on themselves and their own performance, don’t worry about what’s in the press.
“They’ll live through this and come out the tunnel the other way a stronger player and stronger individual and we’ll be a stronger team.”
United were trailing after just 11 minutes thanks to a superb goal from England hopeful Jack Grealish, but were level through a Tom Heaton own goal just before the break.
The hosts took the lead through Victor Lindelof in the 64th minute, however, the advantage was shortlived as Tyrone Mings equalised immediately afterwards.
Solskjaer said: “There were pluses and minuses. I thought in the first-half we were disappointing, second-half it was more like how we want to look like with more purpose, drive, creating chances.
“It was end to end. As a coach, when it’s end to end, it’s a bit too nerve-wracking.
“We didn’t control the game enough, but then again, you do play against a team with some very good individuals as well.”
