BABYLON, NY — “Fantastic” Fluffy is a resident of the Babylon Animal Shelter and is Patch’s Pet of the Week.
According to shelter staff, Fluffy is a 5-year-old, dog-friendly Aussie mix who’s the “perfect size” at about 45 to 50 pounds.

“Fluffy is a very sweet, loving and affectionate girl. With a full shelter, there is limited time to spend with each dog and that’s hard on them,” long-time shelter volunteer Christine Franke told Patch. “Fluffy will win you over with her lean-in and cuddle in your lap.”
While Fluffy arrived at the shelter after an “eviction with four siblings,” staff member Lyndsey Grosjean told Patch, she’s looking for her forever family and the wait is wearing her out.
“Fluffy is so lost at the shelter,” Grosjean added. “It’s sad to see this sweet girl in such distress in her kennel.
To give Fluffy her forever family or find another potential soulmate, call the Babylon Animal Shelter at 631-643-9270.
“Our shelter is full and we are in dire need of adoptions, or even fosters which can save a dog’s life,” Franke said.
Normal adoption hours at the shelter are Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
In the meantime, the shelter needs experienced large dog handlers and its staff is happy to train interested dog lovers.
There’s also an abundance of bunnies, kittens and cats to spend time with too, Franke said. Anyone interested in volunteering may contact the shelter by calling the number above or emailing [email protected].
