BABYLON, NY — “Magnificent” Mocha is a resident of the Babylon Animal Shelter and is the Pup of the Week.
Seven-year-old Mocha is all about the love despite having been abandoned at a Bay Shore veterinarian’s office over a year ago, according to volunteers who spend time with her.
“Mocha was discarded by the only family she’s ever known,” long-time shelter volunteer Christine Franke told Patch. “Unfortunately, for the staff and volunteers, we are the ones to pick up the pieces of her confused broken heart and remind her that she does matter.”
After spending months at the vet hoping to reunite with her family, Mocha moved to the shelter where she’s lived for over a year.
“She’s a sweet, spunky, playful girl who loves kids, is dog friendly, loves to run and play and enjoys swimming in our kiddie pools in the outside yards,” said shelter staff member Lyndsey Grosjean. “Sweet Mocha knows her commands, is well behaved and is working on her sharing skills. A savvy family is best.”
To be Mocha’s forever family or find another potential soulmate, call the Babylon Animal Shelter at 631-643-9270. Her identification number is 23-333.
Adoption hours are currently Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
In the meantime, the shelter specifically needs experienced large dog handlers and its staff is happy to train interested dog lovers.
There’s also an abundance of bunnies, kittens and cats to spend time with too, Franke said. Anyone interested in volunteering may contact the shelter by calling the number above or emailing [email protected].
