Rachel Zoe is the new creative partner for children’s brand Paul Frank.
For spring 2017, the designer and celebrity stylist will collaborate with
the design team at Saban Brands, the company that owns Paul Frank, for a
capsule collection that will roll out to stores in February.
Jennifer Wexler, senior vice president of global marketing at Saban, said
to WWD that, “The collaboration with our team will make sure [Zoe’s] design
aesthetic and concept seamlessly blends with who we are as a brand.”
Zoe was quoted saying: “The runway show really represented the free spirit
and playfulness of the brand — the kids were having the best time. Saban
approached me shortly thereafter about a special collaboration with Paul
Frank and I was intrigued and very excited.”
Zoe had long been asked when she would do a children’s line ever since she
became a mother. Her own Rachel Zoe collection is sold in top stores such
as Bloomingdale’s.
She has already dabbled in the world of children’s goods with when she
designed strollers, car seats, and a diaper bag for a line called Quinny
and Maxi-Cosy Baby Gear by Rachel Zoe. The pieces are sold exclusively at
Nordstrom.
The Los Angeles-based designer chose Paul & Frank because she liked their
cool West Coast vibe. The designer, has two kids, Skyler, age five, and
another two-year-old son named Kaius. She thought that given the age of
both her sons, now would be the perfect time to do a children’s line.
Price points and who will carry the line are still under works, as Zoe is
just in the early stages of the design process. According to Wexler, the
fashion industry has taken a strong interest in this collection, and the
retailers who already have the brand in their doors are Rachel Zoe fans.
Currently, the line is only planned for spring, but the company hopes to be
working with Rachel for at least one more season.
