Rafa Benitez took a swipe at Newcastle owner Mike Ashley after winning his first game in charge of Dalian Yifang.
Benitez, 59, left St James Park at the end of last month after turning down the offer of a new contract – citing a lack of ambition regarding the Premier League club’s future from the board.
The former Liverpool and Chelsea boss has since landed a lucrative £12million-a-year deal to manage in the Chinese Super League.
And Benitez has already expressed his satisfaction at how things have begun at his new club – incredibly revealing he’s already held more meetings in one week in China than he did during the whole of his three-year tenure at Newcastle.
“Since the moment of our arrival we have really been touched by the kindness and respect that we have been shown,” the Spaniard wrote in a blog post on his personal website.
“Our hosts have treated us with great consideration and are always keen to make us happy.
“As we all know from experience, in football, just as in everyday life, when people show you respect and affection and do everything they can to make things easier for you, life is much happier, even when you face difficult moments.”
He continued: “I must say that I have had more meetings with the chairman, the president and the general manager this week than I had in three years at Newcastle.
“They haven’t just been work meetings, rather signs of respect in which we have been able to appreciate the differences and similarities in our cultures.”
The Spaniard is not the first Toon boss to express frustration over the way the Premier League club operates, with former England boss Sam Allardyce revealing to talkSPORT last month that he only met owner Ashley three times during his stint in charge at St James’ Park.
Benitez got his reign at Dalian Yifang off to the best start with a 3-1 win over Henan Jianye on Sunday.
