A newcomer, womenswear brand Sies Marjan, debuted Sunday at the New York
Fashion Week (NYFW), taking the fashion industry by storm. The brand lives
out of what was left of fashion designer Ralph Rucci’s namesake line.
Back in 2011, designer Ralph Rucci went into business with billionaire
investors Howard and Nancy Marks to create his namesake brand. After years
of reported inner fights, Rucci left in 2014, now owned by the Marks couple
– founders of investment firm Oaktree Capital – under the name Deia L.L.C.
Two years after the Marks announced their search for a new creative
director, Sander Lak, formerly head of design at Dries Van Noten, has
presented a completely new brand that has everyone in the fashion world
talking.
Meanwhile, Rucci will make of 2016 the year of his comeback to the front
line of fashion, as he has advanced the launch of a new line under the name
RR331, also at the NYFW.
