Tonight’s Monday Night Raw is live from the Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City, UT and will feature a Triple Treat #1 Contender’s match for the next WWE Network event and a look into the mind of a Viper.
Here is a preview for the show.
Triple Threat #1 Contender’s Match
Seth Rollins, Ricochet, and Bobby Lashley will go head-to-head(-to head?) to determine who will be the #1 Contender for Brock Lesnar’s WWE Championship at the next Saudi show, Super ShowDown, on Thursday 27 February. This match seems somewhat random, as these three wrestlers have been involved in three separate storylines. But this is also a unique way of building a match, making it a fresh matchup and having the concurrent programs on Monday Night Raw converge, at least for one night. Rollins of course is the top heel on Monday nights, and as its “Messiah,” it makes sense that one half of the RAW Tag Team Champions gets a shot in this match. It seems unlikely, though, that Rollins will win this match, as his feud with Kevin Owens rages on despite the injury to Samoa Joe, so there’s little doubt that KO will cost Rollins in some way. So that means it comes down to Ricochet and Lashley, the latter finds himself in this match because he’s bested the cuckolded Rusev, while the former “played a critical role in Lesnar’s elimination in the Royal Rumble match.” He was kicked in the dick and paid back the favour in the Rumble. That’s basically it. A dick kick from Lesnar as earned Ricochet a potential shot at the WWE Championship. While it would be a very good match between Lashley and Lesnar, it would seem that Rusev will be involved in some way to screw Mr. Lana. All of a sudden this feels like this match might suffer from a bit of over-booking, but regardless it makes it seem like Ricochet might sneak away with the pin after a dirty finish.
Randy Orton Addresses His Attack on Edge
So, is psychotic Randy Orton back? Is “The Viper” once again “The Legend Killer”? Apparently we’ll find out tonight from the man’s own mouth why he suddenly turned on Edge last week, hitting the “Rated-R Superstar” with an RKO and Con-chair-to to his surgically repaired neck; a brutal and shocking bump that you rarely see on modern WWE television. It’ll be interesting to see where Paul Heyman and the bookers decide to put this segment: does it open the show, getting the crowd hot with the heat that Orton has after the attack? Or, do they decide to build up to it in the main event spot? And do we start building towards a WrestleMania 36 match between these two, and in the meantime does a virtuous member on the RAW roster confront Orton in an attempt to avenge Edge?
It all goes down tonight, live on the USA Network at 8pm EST.
