After bowing out of London Collections: Men earlier this month in order to
focus on other aspects of his label, Richard Nicoll has revealed that he will
also not be showing his eponymous women’s wear collection during London
Fashion Week next month.
A spokesperson for the designer label confirmed to British Vogue that
Nicoll has decided to take a sabbatical from fashion week to “focus on
other creative projects.”
“The decision to skip a season was in order to consolidate my business
strategy,” said Nicoll. “In the 10 years that I have been doing my label,
the fashion seasonal structure has changed a lot with increased seasons and
commercial pressures. I feel it is the right time to pause and think of the
best and the most relevant way forward for now.”
Nicoll first presented his own women’s wear collections under his eponymous
label at London Fashion Week in 2006 and has shown on schedule ever since
then. In early 2012, an anonymous investor stepped forward and joined the
company board, and Nicoll debuted his premier men’s wear collection not
long afterwards in June. He was appointed creative director of Jack Wills
in February 2014, a position he continues to hold.
