Online etailer group Shop Direct has seen a boost in mobile sales after
launching a new tech-based feature which lets customers virtual compare the
size of an item they wish to purchase in relation to someone of their
height and body shape or compare it to an item they own.
The new service has helped contribute to a sale increase across a number of
product categories at Shop Direct’s Very.co.uk, VeryExclusivec.co.uk and
Littlewoods.com websites and the retailer aims to roll out the feature to
include more product categories, like jewellery and watches following a
trial.
The service, which was developed by technology company and Shop Direct’s
partner, Tangiblee, helps customers have an accurate perspective of the
size of products, such as luggage or handbags before purchasing them.
According to a test carried out by Shop Direct, during which only half of
Shop Direct’s mobile visitors looking at handbag, luggage and purses could
see the feature, net revenues increased 10.3 percent and customer sales
conversion 7.2 percent in comparison to visitors unable to use the service.
“We’re committed to working with innovative partners that can make our
customers’ online shopping journey the best it can be,” said Jonathan Wall,
group eCommerce director at Shop Direct on their partnership with
Tangiblee. “Tangiblee’s technology is helping us do that, giving our
customer confidence in the actual size of items before she buys.”
