MANHATTAN, IL — Manhattan police turned to their social media following for help identifying two people suspected of stealing thousands of dollars of merchandise from a local hardware store—and it worked.
On Nov. 6 just after 10 a.m., Manhattan police were called to Whitmore Ace Hardware, 210 S. State St., for a delayed report of a retail theft at the store. Employees told police someone had stolen over $3,000 in merchandise at 8 a.m. that day, according to reports.

Police shared surveillance images of the suspects on their social media page, asking for the public’s assistance. Within minutes, the suspects were identified as Randall Cadieux, 55, of Manhattan, and Jessica Schubbe, 43, of Manteno. By lunchtime, the two were found at the Manhattan McDonald’s location.
The two were taken into custody, charged with felony retail theft, and released with a notice to appear in Will County court later this month, police said.
