Norwich midfielder Marco Stiepermann has heaped praise on Teemu Pukki, likening him to Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski.
The Finnish marksman was once again on the scoresheet for the Canaries as he slotted the ball past Kepa Arrizabalaga in their 3-2 defeat to Chelsea.
After netting against Liverpool on the opening day of the season, Pukki then hit a hat-trick against Newcastle United at Carrow Road.
And his strike against Chelsea during Saturday’s early kick-off means last season’s Championship top scorer has made even more history.
Pukki has become the 10th player to score in each of his first three Premier League appearances.
He has also, remarkably, become just the second player in Premier League history to score five goals in his opening three fixtures.
And his team-mate Stiepermann, the Norwich midfielder, believes the Finn has strikingly similar traits to Bayern star Lewandowski.
“He’s really a goal scorer and he’s doing fantastic,” he told talkSPORT.
“I played together with Robert Lewandowski, and I really have this feeling [Pukki] is much colder in the 18-yard box than Lewandowski.
“Of course we don’t have to speak about [Lewandowski] because he is a world class player, but Teemu Pukki is special.”
In light of the striker’s superb form, it seems Celtic boss Neil Lennon’s words about Pukki have come back to haunt him.
Lennon signed Pukki in a £3million deal from Schalke in 2013 in his first stint in charge of the Scottish Premiership side.
But Lennon later claimed Pukki ‘was not an out-and-out goalscorer’.
He said: “Listen, he is not going to turn into Superman just because he has got a move to Brondby.
“He still has the same attributes – good feet, okay with his back to goal and he will go in behind as well.
“He has never been the most physical of players, he was never that type. He will be a similar sort of player as what you saw at Celtic but maybe a bit more comfortable in the Scandinavian environment.
